Phlebotomy Technician

A phlebotomy technician is also a valuable member of the health care team responsible for the collection, processing, and transport of blood specimens to the laboratory. Their job is important as it not only involves the collection of blood but will facilitate the treatment and prevention of disease. Their ability to ensure the patient’s comfort during the procedure is paramount.

Upon completing this course, trainees are eligible to work at government and private laboratories, health clinics, doctor’s offices, or any other related environment.

Available Session(s): Day, Afternoon, Evening & Weekend

Day Session: 8:30 AM – 12:00 Midday (Monday – Thursday)

Afternoon Session: 12:30 PM – 3:30 PM (2 afternoons per week)

Evening Session: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM (2 evenings per week)

Weekend Session: 9:00 AM – 12:00 Midday (Saturday)

Duration: 3 to 4 months

Entry Requirements

For the purpose of admission for training, candidates must be at least 17 years old and satisfy any of the following:

• Two (2) CXC or equivalent subjects (one science and the other English Language); or
• Certificate of competence in an Allied Health Care programme registered by the Ministry of Health or Ministry of Education; or
• Satisfactory performance on a grade nine level test in Mathematics, English Language, and a Science subject and being successful in a pre-entrance test; or
• Currently employed as a health care worker with at least three (3) years of experience and with a recommendation from your supervisor.
• 2 passport-sized photographs
• Tax registration number (TRN)
• Copy of birth certificate
• Copy of marriage certificate (where applicable)
• Copy(ies) of qualification certificate(s): CSEC, JSC, C&G, course certificates
• $2,500 registration fee NON- REFUNDABLE
